Governor elections

We have just had governor elections at DD and DS's primary school. Lots of people wanted to stand, with just two places available. The school letter prints the votes in full. Is this a little unkind? One person got a lot fewer votes than the rest. They should have just said who won.

Maybe it's some transparency thing which the LA makes them do.

Our school published the votes - I'd guess it may well be a requirement.

We've just had governor elections and the school did not publish the results in terms of percentages - it simply said who had been elected.

UnquietDad · 29/02/2008 17:23

We had raw votes, not percentages.

I think that's awful

we just announce who has been elected

TheFallenMadonna · 29/02/2008 17:25

We just had who was elected, I think.

Perhaps the Head has had a run-in with the loser, and is savouring the moment...

UnquietDad · 29/02/2008 17:25

It would be fairer.

Incidentally, governor elections mostly seem to attract dads, whereas PFA/classroom rep type stuff mostly attracts mums. Why's this, I wonder?

Well I'm a governor and a mum, as is our Chair, Vice-Chair, Finance Governors ... and we 4 dads as Parent Governors

the reasons that you might find more dads as parent governors is because it is a way to get involved with the school that is less 'involved' on a daily basis really .. .meetings are at 6 / 6.30... even today it is more likely that women take the brunt of the childcare and are more likely to work part-time or SAH than men

robinpud · 29/02/2008 17:32

I can't remember but think that it may be a statutory requirement

Twiglett · 29/02/2008 17:32

as 'are' not is
