Can private schools charge different as I think they have

So my child goes to private sch it goes up one a time a year sometimes two it’s a very tiny school rural location.
However I noticed even though got a letter saying fees are going up to x amount the last two bills have stayed the same , I am not moaning as I’m glad I got the lower amount to pay , my circumstances are very different to most parents there and I asked one of the other mums and her fee was £300 more than mine. ( her and her husband are business owners)
Can the school do this? The fees on the website are old but fairly close to what my bill says .
I don’t work currently but in a position to send my child there as I have savings and child’s dad works full time normal job not a business owner etc . Obviously school were aware of our situation when joined the school a few years back.
we recently split due to dv and the school were made aware of potential dv as the police attended so they had to inform the school. I assume the bill is correct for me as they haven’t told me it was a mistake or anything . Thanks

It's unlikely that the school will give you a discount without discussing it with you first. The Bursar is unlikely to have access to your child's personal information.

It may be a mistake, in which case put the difference in a savings account and wait for them to spot the error.

I agree with pp. It's possible for the school to offer a discount for some reason, but it's unlikely they'd do this without talking to you. Sounds more like a mistake to me.

I thought a mistake but the 3 payments this year have been the same even though a letter at the start of the year said the fees were going to be x amount, if it was a mistake surely they would have spoken to me about it by now since last payment was April and now next bill is for sept

There is no bursary for this school it’s a tiny independent one I should add.

Some schools do a scale of fees on affordability, think Steiner often operate that way. There mat be discount for using monthly dd or paying in advance, siblings, armed forces, clergy etc depending on origins of the school. There may be extras too.

The mum who showed me her invoice was exactly the same as mine sch fee plus extras x x and was different amount even tho children in same class etc I don’t know if to say anything or not , I’ll just pay what is asked for September and see if they say anything but haven’t last two payments so don’t think it’s a mistake
