I have a friend who teaches in a top private school.
During class time she often sends me text messages which I dont answer to as I’m working. AIBU to think it’s unprofessional? As a parent I don’t think I’d be impressed knowing the teacher was using a mobile during class time, and certainly not if I was paying a lot of money in school fees.

Teachers do have some breaks or kids are out of class for different reasons or working on work quietly

So unless you know their precise timetable just being in school hours is not enough to judge

But why would paying more mean anything?

orangeleavesinautumn · 13/07/2023 12:50

how do you know she is in class?

I was free last lesson and now it is lunchtime. I will be free again after 2. She may be the same.

It’s during class time

how do you know she is in class? Particularly now, at the end of term, when many timetables are collapsed

Although I posted myself I feel there is something about this thread that feels odd

Don't be silly. Even teachers in 'top private schools' get free periods etc. Just because it's within the school day, you have absolutely no way of telling if she is in charge of a class or not. She could be supervising a cover lesson, taking two minutes off while doing some marking, in a free period, the children could be working independently, any number of things.

And what on earth has it got to do with you anyway? I am quite sure she is aware of phone policy at her place of employment.

Is she a friend you don't really like?
