Hi there,

Is it possible to accept two offers and decline one later as was on the waiting list and space has become available but we decided to go to private paid a deposit and now want to look at this option as its a catholic school and very difficult to get into, does any one know if we can decline an offer after accepting. Would appreciate your views thank you 🙄

You can accept 2 private, or 1 private and 1 state,
but you can't 'hold' 2 state offers simultaneously except for a very short time when offered a waiting list place so you can decide whether you want it.

Obviously accepting a private place and then declining it leads you to financial implications. If you were to turn down a private place now you would almost certainly be due to pay fees until December, and actually possibly Easter if the private school has already broken up for the Summer. (Notice is often the last day of term for finishing at the end of next term).

Of course even paying for 2 terms you don't use is cheaper in the long run than paying for 5 or 7 years of private if you have a good State school option.

If you have accepted the private place you may forfeit any deposit and a term's fees in lieu of notice. Accept the state then decline the private.
