Essex Grammar Schools

DD is coming to the end of Year 4 and our plan is to enter her into the 11+ for both Chelmsford County Girls and the CSSE consortium. Our preference would be for Chelmsford if she got a place as we live locally but would be interested to hear people's thoughts on the Colchester grammar and the Southend grammars as well as potentially they could both be options as there are transport links to both. Thanks

DD is at CCHS, and loves it, it's a bit of a journey as we are OOC but how she has blossomed over the past year has shown us we made the right decision. Any specific questions feel free to dm me. We never looked at Southend as the journey would have been too far, and withered between CCHS and CCHSG before choosing Chelmsford as 1st choice, won over by the wonderful extra curricular programme, superb academics are somewhat of a given at both schools really!

Thanks. It's good to hear there is a good extra curricular programme at CCHS as it wasn't apparent at all when we went to the open day back in April. There was, as to be expected, a very strong emphasis on the academics but I am keen that DD receives a more rounded education beyond that. I went to an extremely academic school where it was 100% focused on academics and I really want something her schooling to be broader than I received.
