We are relocating to UK and I am currently applying for my UK visa. Because of the delay, we have decided to move our two sons (going to Year 2 and Year 5) into private prep school for this September school year. We are moving from abroad so we are not very familiar with the system but we understand that having a house only end of August will not guarantee the public primary school that we want. We visited both schools and have the impression that Altrincham Prep school for boys is quite academic and pushes kids into competition (sport/music etc.) while Hale is a more family-oriented school. We would really like to hear about the pros and cons of both schools (are they both good academically, social development). We are not necessarily looking to put our kids into grammar schools (only if they are inclined to it).
