MYP instead of GCSEs?

A school local to me we are considering for secondary is offering the MYP. My DC is reasonably bright but not academic, is dyslexic and struggles with the way of learning at his primary saying it's boring. He's currently average in most areas but below in writing and spelling.

From what I understand the MYP can now be assessed but would it limit him at 6th form or uni if he goes?

I didn’t know what this was, but when looking it up found this report:https://www.nfer.ac.uk/publications/IBMY01/IBMY01.pdf

10 years old, but maybe helpful? It looks like very few schools offer it even 10 years on from the report, which is a shame - would really love an alternative to gcse/a-levels for my DC
