If you apply for a job in a school as a teacher do both of your referees have to be a Headteacher. My most recent Headteacher reference is great, I have worked there since January but just temporary contract. At previous school Head was quite bullying and I would rather put year leader as referee. Will that be OK

in teaching it’s common to put your immediate line manager (head of dept/year etc) and the headteacher. Both should be from your current school
