Hello,

It looks like we might be moving to the area and I wondered what Westgate is like? I don't know it at all, other than having looked up the ofsted and recent attainment data. I hear it's generally considered a good school, but what I'm after is information about stuff like the general culture/ethos, is it particularly sporty? Is it particularly good in certain subjects/areas? What are the facilities like? I know it's a primary and secondary - my kids are starting primary soon, but I'm interested in both (even though I know it can all change).

Thanks so much for any information!

That's great to hear! Do you know what is amazing about it? I'd be really interested in your impression of it.

thanks

It's a Winchester school. To be really honest they are all very good. It's state follows the national curriculum, has good facilities and good teaching. As do the other local schools. You may get in if you are in catchment or you may get into one of the other local schools. The reason the schools are good reflects the local demographics of a high achieving local population plus ability to cope well with behavioural , Sen, and depravation which comes with any city school ( yes even in Winchester). They have their fair share of challenging pupils. What exactly are you worried about and what are your other options?

My daughter started at Westgate primary this year and loves it! The staff are brilliant, we are very happy with it.
