Hi,
Am considering Milton Abbey for sixth form for DS who has mild ASD.

Are there any current or recent families here who can give an up-to -date appraisal of what the school is like for years 12 and 13? Eg What's the boarding like? What's the boy v girl ratio? Is there bullying and how is it dealt with? What's the provision like for kids with SEN? What's the head like? How is communication in general?

Happy to receive PMs if you prefer.

Many thanks in advance Smile

My son is in his final year, having started in Year 9.

They have a new headmaster this year, Mr. Watson, who has been at the school for 5 years and came from Bruern Abbey. I think he is great, the pupils seem to like him and I approve of the direction he is steering the school.
About three quarters of the children there have SEN so provision for it is integral to the school. They have certainly supported my sons SEN needs, and he has done brilliantly there.
A second girls boarding house has opened since my son has been there, so there are now more girls, not sure what the exact ratio is though.
Communication is improving and there are an increasing number of parent events bringing the community together in a very positive way.
In my experience, they have been fairly proactive at dealing with any problems my son has had.
To get a clear picture, I suggest you contact them, but my experience for my son has been positive.
