Recommendations for solicitor/consultant

Our eldest has not got in at their preferred choice of secondary school. (Due to our location). We have been informed that appeals tend to be more successful if supported by either a solicitor/paralegal or consultant. We need to put a case together that would illustrate the school being able to take our eldest. I wondered if anyone has been through this and can make a good recommendation of who to use. Thanks in advance

I disagree strongly with whoever told you that. I have come across far too many cases where solicitors (including ones who claim to be experts in this area) or consultants have ruined winnable cases with poor advice. I have also come across cases where solicitors have treated appeal panels as if they were a court of law, which can put their backs up and lead to them being less likely to give you the benefit of any doubt.

If you would like to post details of your case, you will get good advice on here. However, your post suggests you are approaching this from the wrong angle. You won't convince the appeal panel that the school won't have any problems if they take your eldest. You may, however, convince them that the disadvantage to your eldest from not being admitted outweighs any problems the school will face.

I would agree with prh. No panel I've ever sat on has been impressed with a solicitor trying to make a case! They generally approach it from the wrong angle, and are unnecessarily combative.

The person who knows your child and their needs best is you.
