Moving from state to primary year 2

I’ve been debating moving my daughter from her current state primary to private school for some months now. Her state school is lovely but they have admitted that they dont have the capacity to stretch her as much as they would like to. She is greater depth in all areas.

We have a very good private school nearby which is selective. What would be the process of getting a place outside of the normal 4/7/11+ entry points? Do private schools just not accept kids at other points? Or do they have waiting lists from people who missed out previously?

call them and ask

If they have the space then they are more than likely to want your child to join to generate more fees.

My children are in an independant school and children join at any point during the term

Kids come and go throughout ime, but they may put on extra classes or expand class size at year 3/4 so have a specific intake then. There may be a vacancy between entry points or there may be a waiting list if "full" (although in practice they can often create spaces if needs be as class sizes are less constrained) They may want to assess before offering a place.
