Moving schools from England to wales

Hi, wondering if anyone has any advice they can give. We are looking to move to south wales in the summer holidays and I am finding the process for changing schools quite difficult. I have a 7 year old which will be moving to year 3 to start in September and I have 3 year olds twins that I will need to find a pre school attached to the school my son gets given. I have been advised of the process of requesting a school transfer and will not find out the school I get given until end if July which then only gives me 4/5 weeks to arrange the pre school. In England we have to sign up nearly a year in advance to get into the pre schools so I’m not sure how this will work with my girls. It’s also very hard as we won’t have an address until we move and not knowing which school my son will get until a month before makes it difficult to find a place to rent as will want to be nearby, my girls get 30 hours funding here as I work but also not sure on process of applying for a new code as it’s a new government. It’s feels there is no time to sort everything due to the schools process of mid transfers.
anyone who has done this move and been in similar situation or any advice would be very appreciated! Thank you

Dear Lionking

Do you know which specific part of South Wales? Or are you relatively flexible (i.e. can choose a location based on schools etc)? I am not familiar with the area but did not want your post to go unnoticed.

Perhaps this link is a starting point for well regarded primary schools: www.barratthomes.co.uk/advice-and-inspiration/the-best-schools-in-south-wales/

Hopefully someone knowledgable will come along

P.S. don't stress about 4-5 weeks to find a pre-school. It's loads of time and as long as you can visit and feel comfortable it will be fine. Very difficult to find a poor pre-school in the UK and kids are happy anywhere at this age lol.
