Bursary- when will we find out??

Hello,

My son has an acceptance letter from a local private school; we applied for a bursary also at same time.

The pack has no mention of a bursary at all. Just the acceptance letter, form to say yes and their terms and conditions etc...

Does this mean one wasn't awarded?

Will email now but I'm worried!

Mine rang us when we applied?

Are you sure you applied? Has the letter said how to pay the fees etc and when they need to be paid?

Yea definitely applied because the forms took an age to fill out!

The admissions lady said she's forwarded my email to the finance team

I take it they did an interview with you? A bursary needs an interview and they don't normally do that without in depth interviews and exams.

Nope; it's done by an external company. I sent it all off and they said they'd received it and that was that!

My son is at our local prep now and we are also on a bursary; we didn't have an interview then either. Just had to fill out a lot of financial forms.

You need to ask but it seems likely to be a full fee offer.

Yeah. I imagine it's a full fee offer.

External company? Bursary's work through a bursar.

Not suspicious at all! Lots of schools outsource the actual financial assessment process to a professional company. The external company collects all the relevant information and often conducts an assessment interview, then passes everything on to the bursar and the school uses it to make their decisions.

@wigwoowig we've done bursary applications with 2 different senior schools in the past. One sent the bursary offer with the offer of a place, the other sent it separately after a place had been offered.

Not all schools follow the same procedure, so you should contact the school in question and ask them for clarification.

I just assumed if they weren't offering then it would say that in the acceptance letter!

They have emailed though and said she's passed my email to the bursar!
