Wycliffe or Cheltenham?

Hi there, we're looking in Oxfordshire, Wiltshire, Somerset and Gloucestershire for a move and just browsing schools. We want an independent co-ed senior school that doesn't have saturday school... any ideas? I thought Wycliffe and Cheltenham might be options in Gloucestershire but wasn't sure about Saturdays. My kids would be day pupils but if there is boarding, that's fine. I'd rather it were majority day though.

Thanks!

Wycliffe does Saturdays and pretty sure Cheltenham do. They aren’t very academic but maybe that isn’t what you are after. Wycliffe has a lot of army children boarders so there is lots going on at weekend. Have you looked at Dauntseys?

I think Dauntseys has Saturday school, doesn’t it? Are there any day schools which are less likely to have Saturdays??

Are your kids academic? KES in Bath or The Exeter School are academic day schools in South west.

You might look at Kings in Gloucester - co-ed and I think just matches on Saturdays.

St Edwards in Cheltenham is private school & not in on Saturday.

Having been to both Wycliffe and Cheltenham College, I would strongly urge you to choose Cheltenham College. The quality of of education is much higher. Please get in touch if you want more information.

What about Dean Close , not sure about Saturdays though

Saturday school definitely takes getting used to but you have to remember the bonus of 8-9 week summer holidays which allows you to get cheaper flights and accommodation while state schools aren't broken up.
