Missed entrance exam

I cannot believe I have done this.

One of the schools I initially applied for sent me an email with the exam date late November.

I decided not to go for the school as we had already applied for a few others which were more local.

I then decided last minute that actually we will, and I spoke to them at the beginning of this week.

I had an email about interviews to book which i did.

I then just looked at their key dates to see when the exams were and they were yesterday. I feel so awful and sat in bed crying.

I looked back at emails and that's when I saw the email regarding the date etc.

What will happen now? I have emailed them my sincerest apologies. But I guess that's that? Fuck.

It’ll probably depend on how over subscribed the school is. Some schools often have places left even after the exams, so you might be lucky.

I'm assuming I will have to pay for a resit?

Unsure how private school entrance exams work, if they are internally done or externally

They’re usually done internally. I’d phone admissions tomorrow and see what they say.

@Another76543 i have emailed but I will follow up with a call in the morning also. I have been honest with them about the mix up. Feel awful.

To be honest unless they are desperate for pupils (in which case it’s not a great option) you will probably get a no unfortunately.
However, as you weren’t sure about this school initially is it such as disaster? Presumably you have other options

unless they usually have a second sitting of the exam then I don't think you stand a chance really.

focus on the reasons you decided not to go for this school originally.

Private schools are really good at accomodating illness etc on the day. I suspect you will be offered an alternative date. Try not to panic.

He's resitting next Wednesday! They were so lovely about it. Phew!!

Great news op. I thought you wiuls be ok. My experience is that they bend over backwards for stuff like this.
