half term

When do your DCs have half term? Mine are off next week, then only back for 4 weeks 3 days; then they have the 2 week easter holiday. Its all a bit compressed thanks to the early Easter this year. I heard some schools had 'fixed' Easter hol for a set date. Is this a better system?

Ours is bizarre to fit in with the two secondary schools they go on to (one in a London borough the other in a county) half term starts 18th feb, back for three weeks and four days then off easter weekend plus the tuesday for inset day, back in school for three days then two weeks off for holiday.
Heaven forbid (quite appropriately!) anyone who asks for those three days off for holiday even though the linked secondary school in London borough is off that time (their easter holidays start on 19th march for two and half weeks)

ours are off for a long w/e around easter, then back for nearly two weeks then off for two weeks

is probably nicer for the kids but means working (OTH) parents have to find two extra days

nightmare for me as DH is a University lecturer and so normally off when schools are, but not this time as uni easter break is actually at easter - this has caught a number of other parents at dds school
