Kensington Prep 4+ assessment

Hi, my DD is about to take the 4+ assessment this Friday. Just found mumsnet (and impressed by the information provided by other mums!) and wondering if anyone could share something about the assessment itself?

I understand the last two years the assessment was done online so the parents could actually see what was happening. This year it went back to in person, supposed to be better for the children but everything seems so mysterious to the parents and it makes me anxious!

THanks in advance!

My DD went through the assessment few years ago. It was fairly relaxed. From what I recall and what I could get out of a 3 and a half years old at the time, a teacher read a story to her and then asked her about it. She was playing with a teddy and the teacher asked her to tell her what she was doing and to talk about the teddy. She also half mentioned something about having a fake phone conversation with someone. Good luck to your DD!

Thanks Regine, my DD had a great time today at KPS.

Your message gave me great comfort. I hope your DD is having a great time in her school!

Hello @DoraSK I just came across this thread and wanted to know how did the assessments go with your DD. We have our ken prep and Glendower assessment in Jan.

Hi. Sorry that I can't help a lot. Didn't get much from my dd as this was her last her last assessment out of a few and she kinda lost the interest to share.... What I can remember is that they definitely did a bit of drawing, there were a lot of books, and might have played with magnetic building blocks.

Thank you @DoraSK for taking the time out and replying back . We have been practicing drawing this Xmas as her Highgate assesment asked her to draw a castle and fairy .. she said she drew herself haha.

That's so cute!!! And it was impressive for her to give such clear feedback to you!

I know it must be stressful for you now. I was all over mumsnet searching for any info even vaguely related to 4+ assessment this time last year. But it turns out that most of the assessments are fun and relaxed, and to be honest different schools are looking for totally different qualities in the girls. If you have put her into more than 3 assessments, chances are that she will get at least 1 offer!

So just sit back and let her enjoy the assessments like they were playdates, and believe that she will find a place that suits her the best! Best of luck for your dd!
