Does anyone have advice on private schools local to Sunbury on Thames / Staines / Shepperton

Both my freind and I want to send our DS's to private pre-school (currently 2.5 yrs)

Does anyone have any recommendations (or warnings!) locally?

There is a nursery at St David's Ashford - no idea what it is like. Staines Prep may have something too.

Across the river is St George's Junior School (it's on the road that runs along the river from Walton bridge). Further from Sunbury is Bisphopsgate, St John's Beaumont, and the various offerings in Windsor.

If you go the other direction, there is Twickenham Prep, Denmead etc.

The Mall in Twickenham - actually on Twickenham/Hampton/Teddington borders and just off the A316 - is good, academic but not selective. You are probably too late for Newland House in Teddington. Athelstan House if you are looking for a smaller pre-prep but only goes up to age 7.

Twick prep is lovely (as is Denmead). We have friends at both who love them.

Just realised that you are looking for pre-school so only Athelstan House in Hampton has that.

Thanks - anyone know what staines prep is like?

I haven't visited the nursery as my boys went to Rainbow nursery (Lyne Chertsey) when they were younger. However i have visited the school and i'm quite impressed by the confidence social skills and academic achievement of its pupils so we will be sending our boys to staines prep come september 08....hope this helps

Hi there,
I'll be sending my two to Staines Prep into year three.
I thought they were lovely and lots of clleagues have sent their children there, with fantastic results (all their children have got into good schools specifically Hampton and LEH)

big plus to Staines Prep is that their fees are in the bottom 10% - you can send three children to Staines Prep for the same price as two at the snazzier prep schools.

Reading back over the thread now that it has been bumped, St David's Ashford is closing at the end of this academic year.

Athelstan House in Hampton is lovely and would highly recommend. Denmead also lovely although the link with Hampton has changed it quite a lot - more Twickenham pointy elbows given the changes around Orleans / Twickenham Academy. Staines Prep and the Mall both have better facilities than what I have seen at Denmead Prep. St James are bringing their primary section to the Ashford site in a couple of years - you really should investigate them, they are at the loveluy old St David's premises.
