Hi there,

My son is in Y5 with ADHD and border-line ASD. His main learning difficulties are reading comprehension and listening comprehension. I came across Lindamood-Bell and their visual imagery therapy that allegedly helps with such issues. Can anyone share any feedback, experiences?

thank you

We went for assessment and decided to do it this summer in August, intensive every day 4 hours. We will do their verbalisation and visualisation programme that should help with reading comprehension, inferencing and expressive language. It’s extremely expensive but it’s the last resort really. Speech and language therapy hasn’t helped much. It is more appropriate for children with real speech defects and dyslexia but for language etc it is very difficult to find a programme that works.
so will keep you posted here later in Sep-Oct whether LB has made any difference at all.

Ladies, please can you share your experience with Lindamood Bell centre? Am thinking of signing my son there. Thank you

Hi there, I wouldn’t recommend it but it depends on the situation. It didn’t work for us. My son has ADHD and mild autism. He struggles with inferencing when reading texts, especially longer ones. They followed the Visualisation &Verbalisation programme. He liked the experience as all teachers are young and very informal etc. But in the end the results were small and short-lived and completely not worth the costs. We only did it for a month, intensive daily course. I think it helps more non-verbal children or those with dyslexia.
