Friend Birthday Present

Hi,

My DS moved to private school recently. One of his classmates has birthday party next week. I would like to know how much do you spend for a present? I used to spend about £35-50 for his friends birthday presents but because he is in private school now - Shall I buy more expensive presents? Does private school parents buy expensive items? We will also organise birthday party for my son in December so I don’t want to get a cheap present.
Please dont get me worng - I dont mind if my kids have even £1 present but I dont want to be only one if all parents go for expensive stuffs x

I thought £20 for friends gifts.

How old is he? £20 is about what we spent here north east private in year 2.

Bloody hell. An absolute best friend we'll spend up to £20 all others about £5.

@sunstarandmoon a book, a game, a puzzle, a small play dog set, an activity book, colouring book and some felt tips. There's loads of stuff out there for £5. You can get them from the supermarket, The Works, amazon or anywhere.

Try the Works. Two gift sets for a tenner. At that age I always had two in the cupboard for surprise invited

@sunstarandmoon spend what you can afford and what you think would be "reasonable" for your child to receive. I know you'd be happy with a card but if you had to say an expected / fair amount go with that x

Wow- that amount already sounds really high. We go for £5 a gift here £10 Max for good friend

My kids went to private school and it was about £10/gift at that age! My 17 year old is going tonight to a birthday at her selective all girls school and got her something for £15 - she's paying for it after all. That's enough!

To be honest we never organised birthday party for my son (with his friends) so I don’t know what kind of presents parents buying. That means I spend so much so far:O
