Deadline day school application

I submitted my sons high school application early October and to cut along story short, I made a change to it on the deadline day and now I’m worried sick that I’ve affected the application by changing it so close to the deadline.

I did double check with the Local Authority and the actual deadline was 11:59pm on 31st October 2022 and I made the final change approx 10am on the 31st Oct 2022. I received a confirmation email with the resubmitted application and it advises that I will be advised of my sons school on the offer day 1st March 2023.

Does anyone know if applications are looked into on a first come first serve basis? Does it matter that I made a change so close to the deadline? Will our 1st choice school know we made a change so close to the deadline and that we were one of the last applicants?

I have been told that all applications submitted on time and before the deadline has passed get looked at with equal priority - is this true?

It makes no difference when you apply as long as it is before the deadline.. Schools are only told if an application has been made, not what position they were chosen, until after offers are made at least. You will be fine.

So long as it's before the deadline when you apply makes no difference and ( at least where I am) schools don't get to see where you ranked them. I had to apply really close to the deadline as had to wait for exam and workshop results for some of them.

This is correct everywhere in England. Schools do not know where you ranked them and do not and cannot prioritise those who listed them in first place, and everyone who applies on or before the deadline day will be treated equally.
