Non selective secondary school near Godalming

I’m so far out of my comfort zone so I’m hoping someone might be able to help. My boyfriends son is going to secondary school next September and he’s looking at private school (lots of reasons including class size).

Does anyone know of a secondary school that’s not got an entrance exam near Godalming?

I think most of them have entrance exams, but many are nevertheless not very selective.

You might try King Edward's Witley, Frensham Heights, The Royal in Haslemere and St Edmunds, Hindhead. The latter only goes up to 16, which may or may not be a problem.

I think your boyfriend will need to move quite quickly, as deadlines for registration will be coming up soon.

Thank you, he’s applied to two with exams but they’ve stressed how over subscribed they are so just having a panic. We will take a look at those too and see about getting some more applications in. Thanks for your help

I have always had the impression that in this area the most selective schools are the ones that are the most oversubscribed, but that may no longer be the case.

Don't forget that many parents make multiple applications, as you are doing. If there are 1000 places available in year 7, and 1000 parents all apply for 4 schools, it will look like there are 4 applicants for every place and only 25% of children will get in. In reality of course there are enough places for everyone, but some might not get their first choice of school.
