ISEB Exam

My DC had the ISEB exam in one of the top schools last week but we haven't heard anything (I understand we don't get to see the result) and I'm already having a panic attack.
Can someone please explain what the next stage will be as I cant think straight anymore. Was just wondering if one of the Senior schools we've selected should have contacted us or is it too early?
TIA

Hi, please take a deep breath first of all, you sound very anxious. Which school are you talking about? Is this for 11+? Normally all the different stages with dates are on the school websites. If your child took their ISEB test last week, it would seem very early to have heard back already. If you don’t mind sharing the names, I can perhaps have a look and help.

TypsTrycks · 03/11/2022 16:38

Is that 13+ or 11+? If 13+, most schools will reach out to you in early-mid December. If 11+, it will depend on the school (am sure they all have a timeline on the website).

Gabbyflora · 03/11/2022 17:30

Thank you for the response, might be anxious because I'm a new starter (1st child).
DC had his exam at Eton, he's in Year 6 at the moment.
There's no timeline on the school website.

Eton ISEB results come out just before school closes in December - so you have a few more weeks to go! They usually do have a clear timeline they send out by email.

Gabbyflora · 03/11/2022 19:31

Thank you TypsTrycks, it's the ISEB pre-test.
I was worried because St Paul's School sent us an email to say they will get in touch with parents of students who qualify for Entrance Exam a week after taking their pre-test at St Paul's. I assumed it was same for all schools.

@Gabbyflora , if it is the 13+ pre-test for St. Paul's, my son sat this 2 years ago and we received notification that he was through to the next stage by email and letter in mid-December, after sitting the pre-test in early November. He sat for several schools and all of them took at least a few weeks to get back in touch about next stages, so if your DS only sat the pre-test last week, I think it's a bit soon to worry that you haven't heard anything.

Gabbyflora · 04/11/2022 13:02

Thank you so much @ WilsonGick, I spoke to admissions office this morning and was told we will be notified mid- Dec.
Wish you and your son good luck in the admission process and hope he gets into his desired school.

I think most of the "big" public schools are just before Christmas. I seem to recall it was about the 18th or 19th last year for us, and we heard from all of them within a couple of hours of each other.

Gabbyflora · 06/11/2022 19:32

Thanks a lot @ BeBraveLittlePenguin. We should hear from the school Mid December.

Good morning all, thank you for each response.
Two of the schools we applied too have come back to us yesterday that DS passed his ISEB pre-test, one has invited him for a 30min interview and the other an initial Assessment where he has to bring in item in both nextweek.
Can tips please be shared for those that have been through this stage.
Many thanks

That's lovely, congratulations! Am glad to hear you worried for nothing :-). No advice to share on next step as I have daughters, sorry! But wishing him the best of luck.

Gabbyflora · 17/11/2022 20:19

Thanks a lot @ swgeek. He's had the interview yesterday and it went very well he said.
Good luck!

@Gabbyflora DS has been invited to sit exams after his ISEB score. Which schools did yours interview for if you don’t mind sharing? What did they ask? I am very lost with this process. Thanks

Gabbyflora · 10/12/2022 18:33

@ttbn CLS, Eton, Winchester. My DC has only done interview for Radley.
What school did you apply too?
Some schools ask you to bring an item in and talk about it. My child was just asked about himself and to talk about the sport he likes most.
