Anyone else waiting for Kent 11+ results tomorrow? So nervous here. Mentally I've already planned for not passing, and have already accepted the likelihood of it but I know I'll find it so hard to bear DD disappointment if it doesn't go to plan.

Bloody Kent and grammar system!

Just me then!

Have a good meal with your family and outstanding desert. Whatever happens your kid worked his socks off, he showed courage and consistently worked toward bettering himself/herself. This always pays. And then you never know until you know.

Bluebellandpansies · 18/10/2022 10:35

She sorry. 🌺

Gingermidget · 18/10/2022 10:36

We’re in the same boat. Off for a bit of retail therapy shortly to take her mind off of it!

ChaosDemon · 18/10/2022 10:39

Keeping everything crossed @countrylifer and @Gingermidget . I remember the stress of waiting as a child all too well.

It's a horrible system really. I passed, my younger sister didn't. She ended up doing better than me both in school and in life, but the disappointment did knock her for a bit and it's a tough age Flowers

Bluebellandpansies · 18/10/2022 13:35

The results are out. All the best OP.

SussexMumofOne · 18/10/2022 14:20

Hi All, I hope you got the results you were hoping for. I got my DD results this morning and she passed with total score of 410. We live in East Sussex/Kent boarder so are OOC. With her score, is it worth us applying for TGS, WOK or TWIGGS? Sorry new to this so not sure 🤔
Many thanks in advance.

Bluebellandpansies · 18/10/2022 14:23

This is fantastic and what a high score ! Congratulations for your daughter. I am not in that zone but hopefully some really knowledgeable will be able to help !

Floralnomad · 18/10/2022 14:30

Apparently the most you can get is 423 so with 410 I would imagine you can apply to all of them . Has WOK sorted out it’s problems .

madrush · 18/10/2022 14:37

@SussexMumofOne
Great score - you'd have comfortably been offered out of county places at any of those schools in past few years. There can be some variation and it is hard to predict.

Bear in mind that the school with largest intake (Weald) had a downgrading from Ofsted this year. I can imagine some families will therefore apply to the other schools in preference and cut off scores may go up, but maybe it won't make a difference, who knows? Important to note the ofsted criticisms were about well-being/bullying not teaching and learning, and the Headteacher (who had been in post for 4 or 5 years) has been replaced with the longstanding deputy, supported by the previous (now retired) head. The long-standing TGS head has also retired this year.

madrush · 18/10/2022 14:50

Good luck everyone else, waiting for results, very stressful time but, you're obviously supportive parents and interested in your children's education and they can therefore do well at any school they attend.

Gingermidget · 18/10/2022 18:10

She passed through head teacher’s appeal, solid score overall and only a few marks off in one area 🎉

starpatch · 18/10/2022 18:22

My son passed the kent test through head master appeal too, we are in shepway test area and he aced that one through not needing to pass the individual subtests. So relieved.

Passed through head teacher appeal means she is passed, right? Will this impact on the chance of the kid to get a place at grammar schools(not super selective one) ? Thanks.

SussexMumofOne · 19/10/2022 14:18

Thank you @Bluebellandpansies 😀

SussexMumofOne · 19/10/2022 14:21

Thank you @Floralnomad . I believe they are working on them. We were impressed in the recent open day.

SussexMumofOne · 19/10/2022 14:23

Thank you @madrush for the info and you have raised some good points. Let’s hope that the other grammars don’t get more oversubscribed than they already are!

For a very bright/academic self motivated girl I would go for TOGS.

Gingermidget · 19/10/2022 17:36

Not at all, she’s assessed as suitable for grammar. We are half a mile from the school and I have another daughter already there, so we have sibling link as well 😊

They all got through except from one, that might be the toughest configuration.

sophiehassan · 07/09/2023 23:50

hi,
can you kindly tell me how many marks difference head teachers can make appeals?

Bluebellandpansies · 08/09/2023 08:46

Well, technically we would never know but it would not be more then 2 points ?

Breathe. The kid may have passed.

Found this. Hope this helps. It's normal to feel low after all this. Are you certain your kid missed ? He/she did not finish ? What happened ? Some kids cry a lot at the beginning of the test and loose quite a few minutes but still manage to pass. If your kid is above average from yesteryears in Kent there is no way he/she will not have a pass. Sending you a hug. Just a mum here.
