Hi, we are in the process of moving to Harpenden and will soon need to make a year 1 in-year application. Please could someone give me a steer on the process and timings?
I gather that for central applications, we couldn’t apply until exchange of contracts and a maximum of 10 days before the place is needed. But then the processing time is 10-15 working days? So is the child potentially left with no school for a bit?
How accurate is the central list of vacancies? St Nicholas is showing with a year 1 vacancy but when I rang the school, they said they were running a waitlist for that year.
Do schools have to accept an application if they have a vacancy? Or can some operate different rules?
