Is your Easter buggered up by school hol dates which don't match?

Oh woe, kids off in total for almost five weeks. Ds1's secondary school has hols which begin at Easter (which is early this year), ds2 has Good Fri and Easter MOn off, goes back to school for a fortnight then has two weeks off.

Their hols only overlap by four days in almost five weeks!!! How are we supposed to have time as a family? Then they wonder why people take kids out of school!!!

And how can LEAs just ignore Easter like that. Nightmare for working parents.

Anyone else affected?

I have a similar issue. My easter holiday doesn't tie up with my kids, and I'm a teacher.

It is becayse easter is so early this year and some LEas are trying to shift to a 'secular' easter that is fixed, to avoid the huge ranhe in hafl term sizes.

PITA though

I don't want to take DS out of school though. But am sorely tempted for that Monday in July....

The school I teach at is and we were hoping to take dd to the Edinburgh Science fair, if I am well enough we may just do the weekend.

Conversely I'm really pleased the way its working out. I'm Catholic and going to church for the Triduum (Maundy Thursday - Easter Vigil on saturday night) is really important to me. Thats scuppered plans to go away at Easter for any decent length of time. This year I can have my cake and eat it - celebrate the whole of Easter at my local church and also go away.

DD gets just over 3 weeks off at Easter (which is retty normal for her school anyway). She breaks up at noon on Thursday 20th March and goes back Tuesday April 15th I think. We are off on holiday for a week on the 22nd March, and then DD's birthday is in the middle on the 5th April.

Hello,

BBC Radio 5 live is looking for parents whose children are all off school for Easter at different times to tell us about it on the Breakfast programme tomorrow. If you're interested, call 0208 624 9501.

Hope you don't all mind too much me piggybacking your discussion with this request.

Thanks.
