Volume of emails from prep school!

I have 2 DCs in prep school and I wanted to check if the level of emails we're receiving is 'normal'. We get at least 2/3 emails a day on average. I understand that the start of the year or term, there's a lot to communicate but other than that I just find it excessive. its just so much admin. I have another DC in senior school and the communication is much better. Fewer emails but a lot of information in each comms.

anyone else have this issue?

Ours do a weekly comms day - one day when everything is emailed in one go unless it's particularly time sensitive. Works very well. Yours definitely sounds excessive!

That’s a lot! We get a weekly newsletter and then the odd other email, maybe 1/2 a week. Plus a few messages passed on the class whatsapp via PTA/class reps.

It could just be there’s a lot at the beginning of the school year and will settle down??

Don't join Queenswood as you'll get 75 emails per day 🤪

I actually prefer that DD's school do one massive email every few days and things get lost!

Are these all general emails meant for all parents? Or specific to you? I mean I had ten emails today, some specific to different classes/clubs/children, some general for the school.

if they’re all general to the school then yeah I think that’s too much, they should look at a weekly newsletter or something so it’s all in one place.

Thank you all for the replies. These aren't emails specifically for me. It's usually for all Prep or pre-prep parents. Its not uncommon to get an email in the morning to remind you its school pictures tomorrow and then 2hrs later get another one to say the kids can wear summer uniform for an additional week. Always has me feeling like I have missed something or I have left an email unactioned. DH wanted to raise it with the school office but I wasn't sure. Maybe I will now.

I don’t think this phenomenon is specific to prep
schools. Our state primary used to be just like this - email after email all day long, impossible to keep up with while at work and sometimes really short notice telling you there was going to be a parents evening or costume to be brought in the very next day or some such.

It’s the mark of a disorganised school office I am afraid - and no school office is going to take kindly to this being pointed out.

Its so exhausting. We've had two already this morning.
