World Challenge experience

My 14 year old son is signed up to go to Borneo next july for 2 weeks.
I am now starting to worry about the safety aspect of it all.

Anyone have any experience of World Challege?
Did you feel your child was happy and safe?

DD went to Madagascar at the end of year 13. Not that you get a running commentary on their activities (part of the point, really), but there wasn't anything that she recounted that had been a huge issue during their trip. She had had to spend a day in bed at one point due to being sick, but nothing major.

Arms like pincushions from all the vaccinations, though, and she wasn't too keen on the antimalarial tablets, but it seems to have been a positive experience for her overall. Not sure how the local population felt about the invasion of Essex teenagers, but they were generally welcoming😀

That seems quite young. Usually WC is for end of y11 upwards.

Are they doing the trip via school?

The school DD went from has one (shorter) trip for years 9 and 10 this year and another for older pupils.

I did it myself many years ago. It was the most incredible experience. Try not to worry and let him go. What are your safety concerns exactly? Also what part of Borneo? I’ve been to the Malaysian side as an adult and felt entirely safe when I was there
