How do I find a really good tutor?

Other parents all keeping quiet but I know it's happening.

Any subject in particular?

maths & english really, they are in yr 4

I get a lot of my clients through teacher friends, so it might be worth asking your child’s teacher if they know of anyone. They won’t mind (I’m an ex teacher and would never have taken offence at any of my pupils having tutors).
Also look on Tutorful - all the tutors listed on there have to have had an interview which included a mock lesson. It has search filters for qualified teachers and DBS checked tutors.

A friend of mine is an English tutor. Not maths unfortunately. I can DM with details if you think she could help.

Oh that's a shame. Can you (or anyone) see a problem if I give her email address on here? Maybe it's against MN rules or some other reason I can't think of. She really helped my son when he struggled after lockdown.

Most seem to be word of mouth. My cousin found a good one who was recommended to her through a friend, and now my neighbour, another friend and my god-daughter all use the same company as they've been so good. I can pass on their details if you'd like - I've signed my daughter up to start with them next week X

I used Tutor Hunt and sifted through until I found one I thought would be good and she is brilliant.
