I' m trying to make some plans for future and need to know what year will my dd start Reception? She was born May 2007

No Scotland has its own rules.

It depends how many intakes the school has. Round here, anybody with a post-December birthday doesn't start until the January, which would make your dd Jan 2012.

Any ideas when my LO will start school if he was born in May 2007 too? I (In scotland)

my lea told me as of next year all schools would only have one intake but they aren't well known for being reliable so i would take that "fact" with a pinch of salt.

my friend moved to scotland and she says a child born in may 2007 would start school in august 2011.

NA- quite the reverse, the Government is currently reviewing all education for the late summer babies issues,a nd one possibility is having MORE start dates- obv. not by next year

our lea must be backwards then because this year all the schools have two intakes and as of next year there will only be one.

AHHchew, it depends which month your dd was born.

Reception age children will have had their 4th birthday before they start. And brw, many Reception classes have a phased entry which could be 2 weeks long (part-time) up until late October or even January.

umm, so if DS was born in Nov 2004, does he start in Sept 2009, aged nearly-5? Or does he have to wait for another whole year? I'm equally confused.

But we dont know what the crack is with Scotland? Och, never mind, he still has another 4 years of climbing and getting into mischief.
