School Book Bags that fall apart!

Hi all.

Oh dear, not sure how I managed that!
Our school only allow book bags which is fair enough. However the school logo ones are awful, we're going into Year 2 and havent had one last a whole year yet, either the velcro stops being sticky or they just fall apart. I've tried fixing with glue, none sticks and sewing, but the material is too thick for my machine.
We literally only keep a book, reading record and the occasional letter from school in it, so not exactly heavy stuff.
Are the book bags with the longer, shoulder strap better?
Is there a brand/kind that i've not seen that is really good? Smiggle? Or are they overpriced and rubbish?
Many thanks!

And I obviously meant that DON'T fall apart in my thread title!

Hi OP!

I had exactly this problem. I took the Velcro off and put on magnetic poppers (I bought them from Amazon). So far they’ve worked well.

This sort of thing.

I wonder who your school book bag supplier is? My DDs bookbag is just about to start it's 3rd year of service. It gets scrubbed with fairy liquid, rinsed and dried each holiday and I periodically remove the fluff from the velcro to keep it sticky. Whilst it's not pristine it's in a perfectly acceptable condition!
