Pre-U exam result coded ‘Q’

Hi Mumsnet Minds, my friend’s son is in a panic as one of her son’s pre-u papers hasn’t released results and is coded ‘Q’. Anyone know what this means? School isn’t getting back to her.

Argh sorry — first sentence totally garbled. Hope it’s clear that my friend is in a panic because her son’s got this code, not that her son’s son has!

It means the result is currently unavailable.

I don't know for sure but for A Levels 'Q' means the result is 'pending', there might be some sort of query eg plagiarism or an issue with marking.

It means they are unable to issue a grade. There can be multiple reasons for this. The school/college should have further details so they need to contact them.

We had this when the exam score had been received but the course work component for the whole school was under moderation.

We've just been into college same reason, grade not issued yet, they have no idea why.

Thanks for all your replies. Frustrating for my friend and her boy as a lot hinges on this result!
Dita, sorry to hear you’re having the same problem. I think they really ought to keep schools and students properly posted.

Is it to do with AQA delaying results by 24 hours because of the strike?

SoupDragon · 18/08/2022 11:31

(This is just what I've gathered by seeing a brief thread on MN!)

I'd be asking WHEN they will issue the grade. There must be some rule for that, surely.
