What is the go to school shoes for everyone. I normally buy Dr. Martens but cant get the utility boots my son normally gets( he scuffs the leather ones) and my two girls now dont want boots they want shoes and they don't like any of the DR. Martens shoes. So any suggestions. Largest size i need is a uk 1 if thag makes a difference.

We get Startrite. Aren't Dr Martens expensive for feet that are still growing or do you sell them on?

mullitover · 09/08/2022 18:46

Clarks or Start Rite. Job done.

Feetache · 11/08/2022 22:07

Kickers. Everytime. Failing that geox

My son been through kickers, pods, star rite, Clark's, everything. I resorted to trainers for school.

Everything falls apart, scrapes/scuffs and doesn't last a school term apart from trainers. They seem to last.

Clarks. Both kids have narrow feet so this is nice and easy.

Luckily only 1 set of feet seems to grow. My 10 year old DD is in a size 13(for past 2 year) my 8 year old DS has just moved up into a size 1 (he was a 13 for about a year and a half) the youngest of the bunch is almost 6 and in a size 11 i cant seem to get her feet to stop growing. we dont sell on as they are normally really worn and i would feel awful charging, we do however take them to the local charity shop and they will sell if they see fit.

Dd9 barely wore her dr martens last year in favour of trainers. This year she chose a pair of converse with the platform sole and dd12 has a pair of vans

Waitingforever123 · 12/08/2022 14:05

Sports direct since mine no longer liked the Clarks range and I felt the quality had reduced at Clarks.
Ds had one pair for two terms before he grew out of them and a new pair for the summer term.
Dd has had hers a year and they still fit and still look OK.

redhearts · 12/08/2022 14:08

How do Lelli Kelly wear.... just bought some albeit on sale discount for DD. It's her first pair of school shoes so new territory for me...

Metabigot · 12/08/2022 14:09

I've found m and s the best for cost vs wear.

About £26 and lasted all year.

liveforsummer · 12/08/2022 15:14

@redhearts ours always lasted the year.

alrightfella · 12/08/2022 15:24

@redhearts I always thought lelli Kelli were good value for money.expensive but lasted and they have the double insole thing which makes them last longer. But my dc weren't allowed to wear them as school shoes, their school didn't let them wear anything branded like that.

Eggbuttie · 12/08/2022 15:29

We have lelli kelli for DD6 size 11, were half price so quite a good deal, hoping they'll last the year as she grows really slowly.

Kickers for DS4 size 12, he grows insanely fast (99th centile for height? so if he gets a term before he's in a 13 I'll be happy.

Have had clarks which were OK but the sole wore quickly. And aldi real leather ones which were lovely, lasted ages and with a memory foam inner.

redhearts · 12/08/2022 19:28

Sorry for jumping on the thread and thanks for the Lelli Kelly responses! Glad to hear they last well....now only her feet stop growing. She's only 4yo & already an 11!

WolverineBluey · 12/08/2022 19:37

I'm going to try all-black Adidas Tensaur this year. Everything else I've tried so far including Clarks, M&S have been pretty rubbish. DS has had a pair for ordinary trainers and they haven't scuffed or split the strap yet, so fingers crossed we should be good for once.

De88 · 25/08/2022 09:21

Watching with interest! We've always gone to Clarks (outlet) as our kids have odd measurements that nowhere else seems to cater for, and til I read this didn't think I was getting good value, 2 pairs a year... but then eldest walks over 4 miles a day in them all weathers, and it's just under 3 miles for the others. Don't fall apart but do get very battered looking quite quickly.
