Hi there, any advice how to prep children for entrance to Trafford Grammar Schools please. I'm an English tutor and been asked to help with this. Have experience of prepping for independent schools but not this type of grammar. TIA

I'd be very very wary of taking this work on unless you have experience of the schools. The grammar schools in Trafford are incredibly competitive and there is a significant amount of nuance to the exam which, unless you've taught it many times before and know the ins and outs, you'll get very stuck with. If I was in your position, I would refer this kind of work over to another tutor, and probably one who teaches them the whole exam.
Sorry to be a pita, but as a parent, and a former primary school teacher in Trafford, I find it quite alarming that you're asking in an online forum for advice about how to prep your students for such an incredibly 'high stakes' examination 😬

Thanks @Lovetogarden2022 presumably every tutor has to have a first tutee! FYI I have 20+ years experience teaching, including GCSE examining and Oxbridge prep. I get there are particular 'knacks' with this exam as with any other. But there was a time (many years ago) when I was also prepping students for GCSE, A Level, independent schools and Oxbridge (also quite 'high stakes') for the first time and did so successfully! Perhaps a good sign that I am asking for advice? I have practice exams and consulted other websites already. But thought 'horse's mouth' experience might be useful too.

Any one else with more constructive advice? Many thanks in advance.
