DSs school has a "school fund" to which you can make a voluntary donation. It tops up their budget and, tbh, if it benefits my children, I don't mind.

(no, it's not right that we shoud pay this on top of taxes etc but as I said, my children are benefitting from it and it is completely voluntary in our case.)

What is the enhancement fund actually used for? Do you get a breakdown of how it's spent?

could they be doing it to claim gift aid (that's an extra 28p in the £ they can claim from the tax man)?
