PTE/ PTM vs Cat4 tests

Hi

I have read mumsnet for a while now and learnt a fair amount regarding the CAT4 tests VR/ NVM/ Spatial/ Quant and how these scores appear to be used by top schools, along with their own entrance exams when assessing potential candidates.

What I see less of is talk about PTE/PTM which again are tests from GL assessment but are far less discussed. perhaps because I believe they were introduced later.

What I'd like to know is how much from peoples experience do these matter? Say a DD averaged 125 in the CAT4's and 115 in PTE/PTM would the latter be considered by schools or is it mainly overlooked? or are they both equally important?

I do appreciate a 10 pt gap in the example above would indicate that a pupil is not performing to their ability level, but this not the question I'm asking..

I don't think the PT are used ever for entrance purposes. Our prep school made clear the PT results don't get shown to future schools.

If that is the case then I am surprised.

If CAT4 is very much a measure of overall ability then PTE/PTM surely is a measure of how well children are able to apply this ability to English and Maths.
