7 plus - slightly terrified

I’ve not been overly happy with the level of education by daughter has been getting in her state primary. There are a lot of behaviour issues in her class and I feel she’s been ignored a bit and not stretched to her ability (but also not picking up some of her weakness around hand writing). I’ve been considering preps (ideally wouldn’t enter private system at this point tbh) and have been slightly freaked out by the level of practice papers I’ve seen online.

For those that have done 7 plus (in selective but not competitive London schools) did it feel possible without huge amounts of extra work. I don’t really want to go down the tutoring road but think my summer-born 6yo would be totally overwhelmed by some of the papers I’ve seen online and the formality of them. I’m prepared to put in work at the 11 plus point when she’s older but the expectations for 7 plus seem pretty high for small children.

It depends on the school and the selection process. What schools do you have in mind?

Doing it now. Don’t think it’s possible without large amounts of prep - think I am not doing enough at the moment! As PP said it really depends on area and amount of competition.

I could have written this last year. My dc is starting the prep this September.

He just needed extra help with VR and NVR as he hasn't really seen that before.
Which schools are you thinking off?
