I have been looking for options to help my son (aged 3) to help him a little, he has autism and is interested in STEM things. I was wondering if there were any suggestions of things I could purchase that are age appropriate that could help him?

Sand play is science
Lego etc is technology
Puzzles are Math

Forest/beach walks with time for discovery is beautiful science

Magnet tiles. DC is 7 and still makes things with them. Our collection has grown to 4 boxes.

Mathlink cubes - you can get Numberblocks ones too & link it to the show.
Kinetic sand
Magforms & magnetic tiles
Games using balance - where you pile things up & try to keep it stable
Wooden blocks
Games like Screwball Scramble which show different devices for moving the ball (but make sure to watch the ball doesn't go in their mouth)
Marble runs (but maybe to young)
Gardening - get them involved in growing seeds & watching the plant go through its lifecycle
Caterpillars (Insect Lore)
Check out Pinterest for ideas on homemade STEM ideas such as properties of water, static electricity etc
