Stafford Secondary School Recommendation

Hello all,

We have moved to Stafford few days ago and looking for a secondary school to transfer. My eldest one will be joining Year 10 in Sep.

Does anyone has any recommendations with Secondary Schools (apart from Walton)?

I have got Blessed William Howard Catholic School and King Edward VI High School on the list. Any comments on these two?

I open to more school options too. (We probably live near Weeping X)

We are having properties viewing over the next few weeks. We need to confirm school choices soon :)

Thanks in advance! 😀

Hi, I've no direct experience as my DC don't go until this Sept but we viewed both schools plus Stafford Manor and have chosen Blessed William. The facilities seemed much better as did the extra curricular activities. The kids we know who go there seem to do well and enjoy it, although to be fair the exam results aren't wildly different across all three schools. They have a wide catchment and were undersubscribed this year. I've heard that most secondaries in Stafford tend to be pretty similar, but have also heard of bullying issues at Walton, whether that's historic or current though I couldn't comment. Welcome to Stafford and hope this helps some.

I'm interested as to why you've discounted Walton?
I've relatives who have not been impressed with Stafford Manor recently.
I think the rest are pretty much on a par, certainly results and general reputation.
There are an awful lot of new homes being built so I'm not sure what effect that would have on Weston Rd and Balfour in terms of spaces?
To be honest it will definitely depend on where you end up living as you really don't want to be driving across town to get to school each morning!

Yes, good point from the poster above on the driving across town, the traffic can be a right pain especially if there are issues on the M6, which there are fairly often!
