Hi I have a child who is desperately unhappy at the local primary school. Am considering a move to Micklefield - are there any current parents who can let me know what it is like?

RSM is full, as is chinthurst. All others are too far away.

Many thanks!

I saw this a few days ago and thought you would have had someone respond by now. My DC left Micklefield a few years ago and they have changed heads since then so my opinion may be out of date.

However, assuming things haven't changed that much I'll say it is a good school with its main strengths being academics and music. There's a focus on discipline and good behaviour. Class sizes were small (between 15 -18 if I remember correctly).

Have you been to the open day?

Another parent from a few years ago under the previous head, so again the caveat of things may have changed.....
It was very focussed on academics and year 5 and 6 concentrated on preparation for entrance to independent senior schools - however they got results and over half the year group were offered scholarships.
They do have a large playing field, but limited other facilities and use swimming pool at Dunottar and high rope at caterham etc.
However, as a small school that is truly independent rather than being part of a larger group, the still provide excellent music, drama, sport and art opportunities.
Some of the older, more traditional, staff have also left as the head retired so not sure about replacements. I just hope they have changed the uniform as dd hated the school boater!
