Best Maths catch up programmes/apps

Our 9 year old is behind on Maths so I am looking for recommendations for good Maths catch-up programmes please; either online or via an app as we are not UK based.

We have been recommended Kumon but I have also heard of Mathletics. He is in the French system so anything that follows their style of learning Maths would be ideal, but not essential.

He has a few SEN and wasn't reading fluently until this year so we have spent the last year really concentrating on reading, hence the lack of Maths progress.

Thank you

Maths seeds

Mathseeds is great but it currently only goes up to year 4 and you might not get much value unless he's working significantly behind his chronological age. It's also quite a babyish look and feel for a 9yo. You can do a free trial though! Mathletics has a more grown up look and feel but is more about consolidating what he's learnt in class rather than explicitly teaching. Can his teacher recommend sth based on knowing him well?

Mathletics cannot teach new concepts but it is a way of seeing where gaps exist and then you can use other resources to target the gaps. The system will flex up on a topic if the child is getting everything right and will flex down if they are making lots of mistakes. So if you think your child is behind I would start at a level slightly lower than their expected level for age - go over topics they should know, fill in any gaps and then get a solid grounding before moving on.

Prodigy maths is good for a bit of fun.

That's great to know, thank you!
Does anyone have experience of Kumon?

We r used Conquer Maths in exactly the same situation. In fact we use it most summer holidays. It’s really well organised by year group/topic and there is a short video explanation of the topic before 10 questions. We use it to go over the maths in each year group or by topic - so you could take fractions and work through. It took me a while to set it up - you def need to sit down with coffee and a bit of time rather than setting it up with your child standing there.

My DCs are not natural academics(!) and it’s the best programme I’ve found as it goes at their pace. Any consolidation is good - it’s best to really master a topic and be secure. Conquermaths.com

I really rate DoodleMaths. Just a little bit every day
