Hi everyone.

I have an interview for a full time admin job in a secondary school next week, never worked in a school before, my last job was a GP receptionist (a nice one, i promise)

Any pros/cons of the job and looking for some advice/tips and any potential questions i might be asked in the interview.

I suffer badly with anxiety and the thought of interviews/prep stresses me outttt, i already feel sick thinking about it. I am rather shy and seriously lack confidence so...

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks :)

Read up on safeguarding/child protection policies. You will certainly get questions relating to those as they must always be in the forefront of the minds of school staff.

Likely to be given a list of tasks to prioritise. GDPR important and read the school policies.

You have so many of the skills they are looking for. Dealing with difficult patients/parents; juggling a ringing phone and a person standing in front of you; pupil/patient confidentiality. Think of examples of some of these.

Also, read up on safeguarding in schools; find out who their safeguarding lead is, they should have their policies on their website. Read them, and ask a question about them, it will show you have done your research.

I think a safeguarding question is one to really nail a good answer on. It's very likely to be asked.

Yes you will be asked what the term safeguarding means and also you may be asked what Prevent is. Make sure you read the school policies on the website.

Safeguarding and confidentiality will be top of the list of questions I would assume.
Also some type of question about taking on any other duties - you get roped in to all sorts working in a school.

Defin6find ways to link your previous experience of GP receptionist to this role. Give real examples of what you did and how it makes you great for this role as suggested by PP.
