Solihull and Priory school edgbaston review please

Hi, Can anyone give me a review on Priory school in edgbaston? It’s the only independent school that currently has spaces left for coming September. DS was offered a rubbish state school having to look else where very last minute. Solihull have said they will take in year applications for year 8 considering he takes the entrance exam this November. Anyone know if it’s difficult to pass Solihull entrance?

Have you tried Bromsgrove? They will often try to squeeze an extra child in? I’m surprised Solihull have any places left as they are usually oversubscribed. If they are offering a place dependent on the entrance exam I suspect they will only offer if the student looks really outstanding academically or can offer exceptional music or sport. Bromsgrove as it’s larger will take a wider academic ability although traditionally (before predicted grades when suddenly all the Solihull pupils got 8s and 9s!) they used to have fairly similar GCSE results.

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately Bromsgrove is very far out from where we are. The closest Independents on either sides of the area are Solihull and Priory. I would’ve thought Solihull would be full to capacity too, although if he gets in it would be for year 8

I don't have personal experience of either, but I know someone whose DS is currently in Y6 at the prep school at Priory, and is moving up to their senior school this coming September. They have been happy with his experience so far.

Not sure where you live but guessing from your school choices and I would suggest looking at the Bromsgrove buses as they do run from all parts of Solihull, Edgbaston, Moseley and Harborne I believe.
