Bit vague! What do you want to know?

interferringma · 17/05/2022 10:18

And the question is?
A) any advice or tips for parents of offspring sitting it?
B) what are the best schools to prioritise?
C) what the blinkin heck are we doing, subjecting a 7 year old to this nonsense?

No 7 year old should ever know they are sitting an exam- I hope they dress it up as a spy mission or at least a quiz and that you get a biscuit at the end.

So much about childhood is so grown up these days.

Yes 7+ but not in London

My eldest is turning 6 this august and she is currently in year 1. She is doing quite well in school at the moment and I’m thinking of sitting her for 7+. Can someone tell me which year she should be sitting the exam and is it very difficult to pass? I know very little about UK school system. Any advice would be very helpful.
thank you

@N86 , it depends where in the U.K. you are. North London is a lot more pressurised but if you are west London / Surrey apart from LEH and Guildford High it's not too bad. Your dd needs to have covered the whole KS1 curriculum by this October for exams in the Autumn/January 2023.

Hi all, following this thread. My DS sat in one of the mocks recently and scored really poor. The maths paper seemed a bit hard . However, I am very upset as I have been prepping him for the exams for about 3 months now and just before his KCS exam he has performed really poorly. Any hopes please? We are from a state sector but he is very bright and quite good at Math and English. I wonder what we can do in the last week to boost preps.

I would recommend to let him be, he might just be feeling the pressure..
good luck for the exam!
