Internet science resources

Do any science teachers (or others) have any websites they would recommend for basic secondary school science?

Dd1 (9) has snaffled her older cousin's Lett's KS3 Science revision book and is working her way through it enthusiastically ("Cell division wow! Refraction way cool!"). I've bought her the Lett's question-and-answer book to go with it so she can test herself, but it would be great to have recommendations for some more interactive resources she can play around with.

Thanks in advance!

Planet Science is wonderful.

They frequently have quizzes to fill in online - as it's autumn the current quiz is about brown things and the prize is some chocolate!

If she has her own e-mail address she could even get the 'wired' newsletter each month.

And they also have a library with other sciencey sites that they recommend. So plenty to keep her going for a while, I would say.

This may be a bit advanced just yet, but there are lots of cool movies of cells: Cells Online . Nikcola, this might be worth a look for you too.

There are lots of interesting animations and things on the HHMI website.

If she has a strong stomach then she could do an online frog dissection ! (just look at the demo)
