Hello mums,

We live in Chigwell-Hainault area and is currently looking for the best independent schools(both academic and all round development) around this area. Could you please recommend some good schools and tell us why? Thanks

You haven't said what age you're looking for.

You've got the local 'Big 3': Chigwell, Bancroft's and Forest. Bancroft's only take from Yr3 whereas the other two go all the way from Reception.

I'd normally say "pick whichever one of these three you like the best that is a) conveniently accessible and b) that your child(ren) can pass the relevant entrance assessment for".

If you want a separate prep school then I'd consider Woodford Green or Snaresbrook as getting reasonable destination results and not being too small in terms of numbers.

Don't forget that you also have the selective state grammars locally - Ilford County and Woodford County depending on whether you have boys or girls.

Disclaimer: I have two children currently at Bancroft's. We turned down senior school places at Forest & Chigwell.

Hi Thank you very much. We are looking for independent reception/primary school . Chigwell school is relatively closer to where we live than other schools.
But I couldn’t find any resources to see how these schools differ in their performance. Do you have any suggestions

Are your DC in the senior school? Did they go to the prep? Do they like it?

2 in senior school. They were at Forest for prep and joined Bancroft's at yr7. Do they like it there? I think so, as far as I can tell from their monosyllabic responses to my questions about how it's going. Certainly their reports and teacher feedback indicate they are making good progress and getting on OK.
