School attendance issues

If anyone is experiencing school attendance barriers with their child or young person please have a look at www.definefine.org.uk especially their guide (based on current guidance and legislation). It's based on a peer support model by parents with lived experience who understand the stress and isolation associated when this happens. Their closed Facebook group www.facebook.com/groups/773420163493553/
is excellent and full of resources and ideas. A child can obviously face barriers to attending school for many reasons: bullying (by peers or staff), unmet needs (SEND), feeling unsafe in relationships with those who care for them in school, unidentified learning differences or difficulties... often parents are faced with threats of fines and prosecution unless they get their child in (at any cost!).

Here's a link to their guide definefine.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/NFISDefine-Fine-Schools-Guide-Summary-V3.pdf

Thanks, this is really useful... just feeling like I'm not alone. My ASD daughter hates going to school, it's a trauma every morning 😭😭
