Emanuel School-extra curricular

My child is starting at Emanuel School this September. We are really excited, but after reading a couple of past threads and looking at their website, I'm a little concerned about their extra curriculum offering.
Are sports training sessions after school open to all children now(I read something from a couple of years ago that you could only go to training if selected)? Also, what is the offering of clubs like in general eg music groups etc? Do lots of children get involved?

Hi @Christinaclapham. I have a child starting in September at Emanuel too. He’s really excited. I don’t have the impression that the after school sports training sessions are exclusive, in fact quite the opposite - we asked and were told the kids could basically get involved in any sports they wanted, though there’s a selection process for some (football has A-E teams in Y7). More fixtures for the A and B team. My impression was only the A and B teams would have regular weekend games though. Following this thread with interest though and hoping I haven’t misunderstood. In terms of other non-sport clubs there seemed to be absolutely loads for the kids to get involved with. There’s a list on their website somewhere.

Unless it's changed recently, they have both open-to-all clubs and squad training for those selected for teams.

Yes lots of DC do musical stuff, and they have a range of clubs, groups and ensembles. The y7 (possibly with y6) do a big musical show quite early in the autumn term, and that gives everyone a taster

There is after school sport training in years 6&7. It’s optional (but most kids do it) and is for the sport they are playing that term. Outside that there are sport clubs eg water polo open to all and some sessions for the A/B teams only. It’s correct that most Saturday games are for the A/B team.

Music and drama is honestly phenomenal. Clubs, auditioned and non auditioned choirs, ensembles, bands etc. my DD does at least 3 lots of singing clubs per week. Plus performers platform, musical, plays etc. Don’t worry!!
