I was wondering if you have any first hand experience regarding the two schools above. My daughter got a place from both.
In particular, I would like to know how much homework is expected to be done after school and over the weekend.
What if a student falls behind? What support is there?
Are pupils very competitive or do they work together and support each other. Thanks in advance for any comments

@123DS
I would ask for this to be put into Secondary. It might get seen there by people who know the schools. I think NLCS is higher flying. How DC feel there I’ve no idea

NLCS just lost its Head, there's a thread about it. Probably one to avoid for now. Good luck.

@pkim123 why do you like stirring? What a silly thing to say!! Headmistresses are important but the school has been around for 170+ years! If everyone didn't go to a school after a change there would be no school. Good schools outlive their leadership!

Well, let's hope all will be good- a bit late to change schools now!
Wondering why the Headmistress left so suddenly though, she made a good impression

You are exactly right. That's a great question to ask. There's an active thread on this subject, so you should go have a read. Leadership is critical to a school's success.

A school suffering an unexpected departure of its Head is silly? Really? Okay.

Hello, my DD has been offered a reception (+4) place at St Helens Northwood and St Albans girls school. At the moment we are quite conflicted about where to send her, Can anyone who has first hand experience of either school please share their feedback? Ideally we want a balance of a nurturing environment that will also challenge her to reach her full potential.

The new headteacher Vicky Bingham starting at NLCS is outstanding and tipped it in favour of NLCS for me. Do a search on her.
